Something Blue

Happy Friday lovelies!  I'm so excited to be linking up with Heather and Megan for Book Club Friday.  Last week,  I joined the link up for the first time with a review of the book, Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin.  This week, I'm going share a review for the sequel,  Something Blue.

Something Blue Book Review

Synopsis:  Darcy Rhone thought that she had it all figured out:  the more beautiful the girl, the more charmed her life.  Never mind substance.  Never mind playing by the rules.  Never mind karma.

But Darcy's neat, perfect world turns upside down when her best friend, Rachel White, the plain-Jane "good-girl," steals her fiancé, while Darcy finds herself completely alone for the first time in her life ... with a baby on the way.

Darcy tries to recover, fleeing to her childhood friend living in London and resorting to her tried-and-true methods for getting what she wants.  But as she attempts to re-create her glamorous life on a new continent, Darcy finds that her rules no longer apply.  It is only then that she can begin her journey toward self-awareness, forgiveness, and motherhood.  {excerpt via book cover}

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As a huge fan of the book, Something Borrowed, it was no surprise to me that I enjoyed this book just as much.  The only adjustment for me was shifting from Rachel's point-of-view to Darcy's.  I had loved Rachel's character in Something Borrowed and was drawn in by the emotional and challenging situations she faced with friendship and finding true love.  In Something Blue, Emily Giffin's amazing attention to detail continued as Darcy told her side of the story.  As the book began,  Darcy was her selfish self as she was reeling from being betrayed by two of the most important people in her life.  Although she was betrayed,  she wasn't exactly the innocent "victim" and it was hard for me to like her as I started the book.  But as Darcy visits Ethan in London, she makes many surprising discoveries.  I quickly became engaged in her story and it was nice to see Darcy's character change as she learned the true meaning of friendship, love, and happily-ever-after.    DEFINITELY A MUST-READ!

Have you read Something Borrowed and Something Blue?  What did you think?

Before I go,  I just wanted to say that until recently I wasn't much of a reader.  Earlier in the year, someone mentioned to me that I should read Something Borrowed and I was immediately hooked by Emily Giffin.  I quickly read all of her books (Baby Proof, Love the One You're With, and Heart of the Matter -- reviews coming soon) and have a new found love for reading.

I am currently reading the Bride Quartet series by Nora Roberts and am loving it!  I began reading on Tuesday and am about to finish up the third book.  Anyone ever read this series?   If so, what did you think?  You can expect reviews for Vision in White, Bed of Rose, Savor the Moment, and Happy Ever After soon too.  It looks like I'll be a regular on Heather and Megan's Book Club Friday.  :)

Next up on my book list is ...  Lauren Conrad's  L.A. Candy,  Sweet Little Lies, and Sugar and Spice.

If you have any book recommendations for me, let me know!  I'm off to check out the book reviews at Heather and Megan's blogs.  If you enjoy reading,  you should link up too! :)

Happy Reading! xo

I have read all of Emily Giffin's books and the bridal quartet and LOVED them all! I think my favorite quartet books were bed of roses and savor the moment, just because those girls were my favorite characters. But they were all amazing and I couldn't put them down. You are going to love them!!!

If you like books in a series, you should try the Janet Evanovich series... they are fun, light and hilarious. They take place in Jersey and the characters will have you LOL'ing. They're not super heavy on the romance, but great nonetheless! (oh and there are like 16 of them) LOL

glad to hear someone felt the same way about Darcy's character. I disliked her so much after reading something borrowed that I never picked up something blue =/ I will have to try again =)

I loved The Little Lady Agency series -- it was very entertaining =) you should give those a try next!

I love reading a book that I love and then finding it to be part of a series, or that the author is quite prolific. Then you sort of know you have more books you will probably enjoy!

I have read all of the Bridal Quartet books as well as the LA Candy series. I loved them all!! The Bridal Quartet is an amazing set of stories about friendship and love. The LA Candy series is a total guilty pleasure. They are teen reads which makes them easy to finish, but still entertaining. I highly recommend reading all of them. I also cannot wait to get started reading Something Blue!
