T & T : New Orleans

Hello lovelies! It's time for Tastes & Travels! Lyndsay, Michelle, and I have been road trippin' around the U.S.A!   So far, we've visited two of the world's most popular cities, New York City and Boston (if you missed it, click here) and two of the South's most beautiful beaches, Miami and Key West (if you missed it, click here.)

Next stop ... The Big Easy a.k.a. New Orleans!
Anyone ever been to Nola for Mardi Gras?

While sipping on a Hurricane in the French Quarter,  I'll be sure to grab a bite to eat!  Nola is known for their gumbo, muffulettas, and bananas foster!

Bananas Foster
[recipe and image via]

Ingredients:
1 stick butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
4 bananas peeled and halved, cut lengthwise
1/4 cup dark rum

Directions:
Melt butter in a large skillet. Add brown sugar and stir together. Add the bananas and cook until caramelized over medium-high heat. Pour in the rum and catch a flame off of the gas stove or a BBQ lighter. Stand back when ignited and flambe. Be careful; a flame will shoot up above the pan. Let flame die down. Serve over vanilla ice cream and/or a slice of pound cake.

LAISSEZ LES BONS TEMPS ROULER!

Next week, it's your turn to link-up!  We'd love for you to join us share places you've visited, recipes, or your favorite things about the good ole U.S.A!

Love and Tasty Travels! xo

YAY! I'll be there in October and I love Muffalettas! THEY ARE SO GOOD. I also love olives. I have not been for Mardi Gras and I would never go there for that. I can't even imagine. NOLA is crazy enough just on a regular night, I cannot imagine being around that many drunk idiots and the public urination and vomit and fighting. Oh, it would just be out of control!! But a regular weekend, yes ... I can do that!

I was in NOLA for Mardi Gras this year, and it was absolutely crazy! I loved all the food and the sights. ACME Oyster House and Cafe Du Monde were my favs! You absolutely HAVE to be a cheesey tourist and go on the French Quarter carriage rides. I will definitely go back, but not during Mardi Gras again lol....check out my trip at http://richmrich.blogspot.com/2011/03/parades-po-boys-and-powdered-sugar.html
