Fears

Hello lovelies!  So we all have fears right?!  I thought I would share one of mine today.  I have a few.. some of which are more personal than others.

One thing that scares the daylights of me is ... FIRE.

Growing up, we always visited the firehouse in elementary school.  We would do a drill and practice stop, drop, and roll, as if there were a fire.  It was intense.  It was dark and hot and just totally mortified me.  I always knew it was best to know what to do and to this day, relay everything I know with my kids throughout the school year.

I think my fear of fire has to do more with the chances of losing people I love and prized possessions.

Well on February 22, 2003,  I had a horrifying experience with fire.

My car went on fire while I was driving.  If my {ex}boyfriend wasn't in the car with me,  I could have been seriously hurt.  A small fire began in the engine and soon came through to the ignition.. right in front of my eyes as I was sitting in the driver seat.   We were able to get out of the car and put the fire out with water and snow that was on the ground.  While we waited for the fire department,  my dad came and he and my {ex}boyfriend started to move my car off the road because I was in the way of traffic.  {My car stalled on a ramp getting on the highway once the fire began.}  As they were pushing the car,  the fire reignited and the whole car ended up catching fire.    The fire department arrived and I'm just glad no one was hurt!

{Insurance inspected the cause of fire and it was determined that an electrical circuit from my stereo system broke loose in the engine starting the fire.}

To this day,  I am still wary around fire.  I will not light a match or a candle.  Even when I'm cooking, I get nervous if the flame gets too high.

Little by little,  I'm working to overcome this fear.  I think my bad experience will be enough for my lifetime! :)

Do you have any fears?  Have you tried to overcome it?

Happy Thursday! xo

Michelle that is SO scary! I've always seen cars start smoking on the side of the road and it freaks me out SO bad... I cannot imagine my own car catching on fire. Talk about confronting a fear head on!

I'm not afraid of fire like you are, but I worry about fires more than anything. I have turned around and come back home on my way to work before because I am afraid that maybe I left my straightener or the stove on and something could fall on it and catch the house on fire and all my pets would die :(

I am TERRIFIED of clowns. I hate parades because naturally they always have clowns. I never stand near the road and if I'm close enought to see them I instantly start backing away and tearing up. I tell my parent's all the time it's because my nursery was done in clowns. What was up with clowns and the 80s? Geez.

I'm also scared of elevators. I will ride them but am always nervous and sometimes hyperventilate while on them. I'm always afraid I'm going to get trapped in one or that the cable(s) will break and I will come crashing down.

That is a terrifying story! I have a very similar fear of fire, because I had a scary fire in my apartment in 2003 (bad year for fires!). It resulted in a gnarly scar on my arm, and what will probably be a lifelong fear of candles. These things stay with us!

Whoa, that is terrifying. You're lucky y'all were okay. My biggest fear is clowns, the dark and never being able to have children of my own.

omg that is so scary! :/ I don't really have any big fears. I'm kinda scared of the dark though haha I feel like a little kid saying that. But i'm not scared when i'm at home or in my room or something, it's usually when i'm at someone else's house, a hotel, or outside in the dark. It creeps me out!

That fire is so scary! My fear is very similar but its water instead of fire. I get anxious just thinking about driving through water that is too high and being pulled away. I never had this fear until I had kids because I am a strong swimmer and could get out. But thinking about trying to get two kids out of their carseats terrifies me. I guess it is good because I will NEVER play around with cars and water. Ok....I need to stop thinking about this :)

What a horrifying experience! In college my best friend started her car to warm up and when back in the house and about 15 minutes later heard a huge bomb and her car was engulfed in flames. It was so scary. Glad everyone was safe! xo
