Hello lovelies! When I returned from Nashville, I became very determined to begin living a healthier lifestyle. So yes, I'm on a diet and yes, I want to drop some pounds. But I feel that diet isn't the best word. To me, diets have always been fads. My focus now is to put good, healthy food into my body and to work out regularly AKA live a healthier lifestyle.
This past Friday, I began making changes to my diet and made it a priority to add exercise into my busy schedule.
To help me on this new journey, I downloaded the MyFitnessPal app ... which is super helpful!
I log everything I eat and drink, as well as all of my workouts.
According to the amount of weight, I'd like to lose ... I'm allotted 1350 calories per day. If I want to lose an extra .5 lb. a week, 1200 calories per day. I try and stay between 1200-1350 each day.
I've also worked out the last 5 days in a row and am planning to continue to! {You may get sick of me sharing here, on Instagram, or on Twitter but it helps me stay accountable and motivated.}
I have a question though for any health and fitness bloggers or anyone who can help! It would be greatly appreciated.
I have been meal planning and counting calories. The last few days I have had extra calories due to the calories burned in my workouts. Do I have to eat those extra calories?
For example, here is my log from Monday...
I have 546 remaining. Am I supposed to eat those calories?
{Thank you in advance!}
I may blog more about my journey and meal planning but that's all for today!
But before I go, some healthy motivation. . .
As always, my inspiration comes from pinterest!

That's great! Good for you. I am also trying to get more in shape and eat healthier, but it's tough. Best of luck to you.
No you don't eat those calories. All they are saying is that is ALL U HAVE LEFT to consume for the day. Try not to eat them all or go to your max each day. It makes it harder to shed the weight TRUST ME!!! :) your post was so similar to my bridal lose the weight one! :) I use the LOSE IT app which is pretty dang identical to your app you are using. :)
I LOVE this post :) It seems like everyone is trying to get healthier, myself included (I posted a bunch of motivational pins on my blog today).
I also blog and tweet about working out, even if people get sick of it. It's my way of keeping myself accountable (and it's so nice to hear inspiring things from others, especially on days where I just want to sit on the couch and eat a whole box of Girl Scout Cookies).
I just deleted the My Fitness Pal app off my phone...I think I'm the only person who doesn't like it :(
my fitness pal is the best app ever, good luck with dropping a few lbs! you can do it!

let it be beautiful
I have always heard as long as you are eating 1200calories a day. Those are the calories needed for your body to function. Just try to hit that every day :) Good luck girl :)
Great post. Your pins are great motivation!
I am trying to loose the baby weight. We can do this!!
I'm on this SAME train! In answer to your question, no you're not supposed to eat those calories that you are essentially getting back from your workouts.
I'm also on MyFitnessPal! Find me @ sre118607!
Keep up the good (hard) work lady!
Not to give a conflicting answer, but I've heard both ways.
However, I keep one thing in mind: the bigger the deficit the bigger the loss. While keeping this in mind, I DON'T under eat because if you consume LESS than 1000 calories a day, you're body will go into "starvation mode" and start holding onto everything.
That being said, I eat the same range that you do, but some days I'm just NOT hungry and find it so hard to eat without being hungry.
Losing weight-such a conundrum LOL
Great job girl! I think we're friends on MFP? If not, I'm amberinco :)
LOVE the MyFitnessPal app...it's been such a huge help in me losing weight! Loved reading this post, too...can't wait to keep reading!
YES! You have to eat your workout calories! Make them good calories though :)
Good luck lady!!! Hope you reach your goals!!
P.S. I have a giveaway going on right now. I hope you enter! :)

I dont think you have to eat all your workout calories, but you do need to eat a minimum of 1200 calories a day! I used my fitness pal for the majority of last year and i loved it!
I wouldn't use the remaining calories you burned working out unless you are hungry (working out makes me a little extra hungry). If you do eat, make it something super healthy :)
I am trying to get rid of my last 15 pounds of baby weight! I gained 48 pounds!!! LOVE MFP but I've been slacking on logging this past week since I'm focused on my little girl. I'm still losing, though since I'm still eating right and exercising! The awkward part is having to log breastfeeding calories burned...lol
Good luck with striving to live a healthy lifestyle! It is definitely better to do that than just try and stick with a diet.
Love the poster with the 100 calorie snack ideas. :)
I'm right there with ya girly...even though I think you look pretty fab as you are!!! Love the belly button ring in that 1st pic!!!! I totally rocked one too! xoxoxo
that's awesome girl!! you definitely do not have to eat your extra calories. no need to go to the max every day!
you can totally do it!! you're already such a great cook, i'm sure you can make the healthy meals tasty
I use MyFitnessPal too. It's wonderful.

You are gorgeous! Love you! :)
Yaaay you are encouraging me to be healthier. I've struggled with this for quite some time. It's so hard to be good but when you set your mind to it you can do it!
Definately do not eat those workout callories. Those are the callories that will help you lose the weight. If it makes you feel better this comes from my bro and he's a degreed trainer.
Good luck! Xoxo
Yikes, sorry my phone must have had a freak out moment. Hence the 3 identical posts, lol. Anyway - mentioning you on my recent post that will be live in a few. Thanks for inspiring me! xo.
